When a Kabyle made great music: Igurbouchen

Iguerouchen

For lovers of music, wonderful music, I invite you to listen to this artist named Muhand Ygerbuchen, better known under the pseudonym Igor Buchen

But who knows the most illustrious of Kabyle unknowns?
At the age of 18, this classical music prodigy had his moment of glory in European capitals throughout the first half of the 20th century. He transformed Kabyle sounds into delicious rhapsodies. For those new to classical music, listening to and appreciating Iguerbouchèn (better known under the pseudonym Igor Bouchen) will certainly enable them to build a bridge between the sounds of Kabyle and universal classical music, and appreciate Mozart, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky in equal measure.

Iguerbouchen was one of the greatest and most prolific Kabyle composers. At one time, his fame extended far beyond Kabylia and France. Although he is little known today by the younger generation and little quoted in the world of culture, as a citizen of a stateless people, his works bear witness to his genius. A genius that urgently needs to be discovered!
