There are great humane forces that stands by Kabylia, and who won’t turn their back on people in need.

The Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste of Montreal, and its head Mr. Maxime Laporte, decided to honor and immortalize the Kabyle fight for self-determination by etching the Kabylie. the national emblem on a stele in the enclosure -even of this illustrious institution founded in 1834. The ceremony will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at 14:30.

Besides the President of the Kabyle provisional govern, Mr. Ferhat Mehenni several political personalities such as mr. Maxime Laporte, the 80th President of the SSJBM Rachid Bandou, representative of the association Friendship Quebec-Kabylie and former candidate for the Parti Quebecois, Mourad Itim , president of North America and MAK-Yvan Bombardier the Mohawk Traditional Council will be present at this event.

We must remember that the SSJB hosted the historical first raising of the national kabylian flag, which was held April 11, 2015 in Montreal, and augurs a bright future for Kabylia when you know that one of the first gestures The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Society was created by journalist Ludger Duvernay in Lower Canada. It evolved from the Société Aide-toi et le ciel t’aidera (“help yourself and Heaven will help you”) founded by Duvernay on March 8, 1834. Most notably, it made June 24, St. John the Baptist day, the national day of the Quebecers. In 1922, June 24 became a public holiday in Quebec, and since 1977 it has been the national holiday of Quebec.
