The annual march of the Kabyle people to commemorate the Kabyle springs of 1980 and 1981 and the black spring of 2001. Black because Algeria did not hesitate to kill 128 young Kabyle people who were demonstrating for the respect of their culture and identity, is engraved forever in the memory of the Kabyle people.
This year the Paris march saw the participation of leading Kabyle personalities and artists and international personalities, who came to express their support for the Kabyle people. I would mention Mrs Mairead Tagg , an activist for Scottish independence, the German Uli Rodh, always on the side of the voiceless, and many others. The President of the Catalan National Assembly, Mrs. Dolors Feliu, was unable to attend the march and sent a message of encouragement and support from the Catalan people to the Kabyle people.
“As president of the Catalan National Assembly, I would like to send my greetings to all the companions, activists of the Kabyle diaspora, who are demonstrating on 16 April in Paris, in commemoration of the Black Spring and the Amazigh Spring.
There is a strong bond of solidarity and friendship between the Kabyle people and the Catalan people.
We both want the exercise of the right to self-determination for our peoples.
We will persist and we will win.
For a FREE AND INDEPENDENT KABYLIA & CATALONIA.”
