Hunger strike by Kabyle hostages in Algerian prisons

The September 12, a large number of Kabyle political and opinion detainees have decided to start a hunger strike to draw the attention of public opinion both domestic and abroad to their unbearable and painful situation. This strike is intended as a protest against the very reason for their incarceration, which is clearly illegal, but also against the treatment and abuse to which many are subjected inside the prisons themselves. Some of them have been imprisoned for nearly two years without being notified of any charges against them.
The Kabyle people, resolutely anchored in a peaceful struggle for the legitimate right to their self-determination and while continuing to work on various fronts, support the detainees who are hunger strikers in a total way. The people are sounding the alarm on a very serious situation for which the Algerian colonialist regime bears full responsibility.
It is no coincidence that Algeria has decided to cancel the visit of the UN Rapporteur scheduled for September 12 to 19 and scheduled for a long time. Moreover, this visit has already been canceled eight times in the last 10 years.
The entire Kabyle people, organizations, associations, Kabyle personalities are called upon to support detainees unjustly deprived of their freedom and their families.
The Kabyle government in exile (ANAVAD) calls on the UN to activate the mechanisms at its disposal to enforce the rights of Kabyle political prisoners.
