Algeria: Racism against the Kabyles extends to other Africans
Aware that it won’t be able to sustain its memory rent forever, and that the hydrocarbon rent is coming to an end, Algeria is investing massively in its genocidal “zero Kabyle” operation to build its internal unity, and in the outrageous denigration of African countries to ensure its pseudo economic and cultural influence.
The racist remarks of Fennecs fan Sofia Benlemmane, which earned her a deserved expulsion from Côte d’Ivoire, were described by an Algerian radio station as “the most beautiful goal of the CAN 2023”. Moreover, the Algerian services’ support for this insolent influencer is an indication of the disgrace and moral decay reigning in the upper echelons of Algerian power.
In contrast to Algeria, whose application to join the BRICS was rejected, we are witnessing the emergence of African countries such as Ethiopia, which has joined the BRICS with honors. With this resounding failure, Algeria has shown us its true image: that of a country that is disintegrating dangerously, and that is attacking dignified, prosperous and upright African countries.
The Kabyle people, who claim to be African, are the first to have suffered and are still suffering from the primary and visceral racism of the Algerian regime and a section of Algerians who claim to be Arab-Muslim.
On my own behalf and on behalf of the Union pour la République Kabyle (URK), a political movement that campaigns by peaceful means for the independence of Kabylia, I would like to reassure our Ivorian and African brothers of our unfailing solidarity in the face of the outrageous and racist excesses of certain Algerians, who, it should be stressed, benefit from the impunity guaranteed to them by their state. Like you, we are Africans and we fundamentally believe in our common destiny.
